Wie er sich noch über das Bäuchlein freut.

Aber mein Appetit ist zurückgekehrt und ich habe schnell alles wieder zugenommen und sogar noch etwas Gewicht draufgepackt. Ich bekomme schon ein Bäuchlein, das sonst immer passiert bevor ich in die Höhe geschossen bin. Ich hatte eigentlich gedacht, ich sei ausgewachsen, aber ich denke, ich habe meinen Bruder, der zwei Zentimeter länger ist, in ein paar Monaten überholt.“

Nun in die Länge wächst du nicht mehr, aber dein Bauch ist tatsächlich noch lange nicht ausgewachsen.

Der Typ auf der Highschool war schon immer korpulent und stämmig.  Aber er trieb viel Sport.

The guy in high school was always corpulent and stocky.  But he played a lot of sports.

An der Uni hat er aufgehört zu trainieren, trinkt mehr und isst, was er will. Er ist wirklich aufgebläht. Ich würde sagen, er ist mehr als pummelig, er ist ziemlich fett. Er trägt das Gewicht so schön mit sich herum.

In college, he stopped exercising, drinks more, and eats whatever he wants. He's really puffed up. I would say he's more than chubby, he's pretty fat. He carries his weight around so nicely.

Sein Gesicht wird immer voller und fetter wie ein Krapfen.

His face gets fuller and fatter like a doughnut.

Der hat wohl zu häufig am Küchentisch gesessen? Bei erwachsen gewordenen Söhnen suchen sich die Mütter meist die Bestätigung, dass sie noch gebraucht werden, durchs Essen mit sichtbaren Folgen. 

He has probably been sitting at the kitchen table too often? With sons who have grown up, mothers usually seek confirmation that they are still needed by cooking, with visible consequences.

Der ältere Bruder mag ja typischerweise, wenn man auf die 30 zugeht, etwas fülliger um die Hüfte geworden sein. Aber der jüngere züchtet sich einen Speckballon am Bauch. Er nimmt das Friss-was-was-du-kannst beim All-you-can-eat Hotelbuffet etwas zu wörtlich.

The older brother may have typically become a bit fuller around the hips as you approach 30. But the younger one is growing a bacon balloon on his belly. He takes the eat-what-you-can attitude at the all-you-can-eat hotel buffet a bit too literally.

„Meinst du, dass man meinen Bauch wieder flachbügeln kann?“ „Dazu braucht man wohl mindestens eine Wäschemangel. Dann wirst du aber deutlich länger.“
