„Ich habe wohl zuviel Cola bei der Hitze in mich hineingeschüttet. Nanu, wenn mein Bauch davon so rund ist, warum ist er dann so weich?“  Weil das nicht von der Cola gerade eben kommt, sondern von der Cola die du in den letzten Wochen ständig gesüffelt hast. 

"I must have poured too much cola into me in the heat. Well, if my belly is so round from that, why is it so soft?"  Because it's not from the cola you just had, it's from the cola you've been guzzling for the past few weeks.

He always ate too well.

Mein Sohn kommt mich immer nach der Schule von der Arbeit abholen. Bei uns im Foyer gibt es eine Cafeteria. Dort wartet er auf mich und macht seine Hausaufgaben. Natürlich darf er sich eine Kleinigkeit holen. Aber ich befürchte, er bekommt mehr als auf der Rechnung steht. Offenbar ist er der Liebling einiger Angestellter. Er hat ganz schön Bauch bekommen und Pausbäckchen, und ist etwas pummelig geworden. Einerseits würde ich dies gern unterbinden, aber andererseits ist er hier brav und unter Aufsicht. Seine Noten sind auch besser geworden. Also ist es besser und billiger einfach kommentarlos immer neue Kleidung zu kaufen. 

My son always comes to pick me up from work after school. We have a cafeteria in the foyer. He waits for me there and does his homework. Of course, he is allowed to get a snack. But I'm afraid he gets more than what's on the bill. Apparently he is the favorite of some of the employees. He's gotten quite a belly and chubby cheeks, and has gotten a bit chubby. On the one hand I would like to stop this, but on the other hand he is well behaved here and under supervision. His grades have also improved. So it's better and cheaper to just keep buying new clothes without comment.

„Jetzt wo der Sommer kommt, müsste ich eigentlich an meiner Strandfigur arbeiten – aber dafür bin ich irgendwie viel zu träge“ Kein Problem – faulenze und fresse weiter so. Ein Beachball der du dann wirst, ist doch die optimale Strandfigur!

"Now that summer is coming, I should actually work on my beach figure - but I'm somehow much too languid for that" No problem - keep lazing and eating like that. A beach ball that you then become, is the optimal beach figure!
